Peace and Quiet

Early morning and I could hear the trees rustel in the breeze. Our at least that is what I thought I heard. It was really a light rain. A quiet peaceful rain and I listened to it until I fell back into my land of nod.

Later in the morning a little kid about 2 years old came knocking on our door. At first I though he might have been disoriented and went to the wrong camp site. As the DW got up to check he scampered back across the road to his own site. I watched through my old eyes and saw someone laying down, conversing with him and a younger one. All was ok.

Yet as I watched I began to wonder why were they laying there and even though the arms were moving around it just didn't look right. And why did that kid really knock on our door? So DW got dressed and went over to check. The next think I hear is "call the ranger station".

Well the mother of the child had hurt her back and fallen. She had sent the 2 1/2 year old to get help at what we later found out was a couple of sites. We just happened to be the ones that responded. So with a response from the office and a call later for an ambulance all began to get better for our unknown neighbor. She had a painful time being raised to her feet and placed on a gurney. then if was off to the hospital for her. The DW ending up babysitting the neighbors two boys until a family member was able to arrive.

That episode in the time of our lives broke the peace and quiet but it was well worth it just to be able to help another.
