And it feels good. Not that we haven't made several small trips since our last update but this time it's the real deal. We have moved out of the brick and motor pad and onto the rubber. Fulltimers at last.
It is not an easy transition. Especially getting the house in order and ready for sale. Where and how did one accumulate so much stuff? It seemed that the more we got rid of the more it grew. Our house was purchased to raise our kids and most of what was in it was purchased with them in mind. Well they are all grown and gone now and do you think they want that stuff? No way. They've started accumulating their own.
We gave much of it to charities and trashed what was not worth giving away. Still there are things to be stored. We both have looked at items that had meaning years ago to us. But they are items that have no meaning to anyone else. We choked back the emotions and made the choice to trash it. There are new memories to be had down the road.
Now we have to figure out where we are going and when and how to get there. Plus how long we'll stay in one place. My Favorites in the computer has a listing by states of many attractions we want to see. My Streets and Trips contains several travel itinerary and route layouts for trips. It's just a case of pick one and start the journey.
One of the last things we had to do was visit our doctors. It's amazing how well they look after you. Or at least their pocket book. How they want to manage your health every three months. It was nice to have them make the next appointment and be told that if I were in the area I'd keep it otherwise I'll call them when I'm available. Wonder if I can charge them a fee if they can't meet my schedule? I refuse to have managed health care manage my travel schedule.
At present we are staying at Scotrun Outdoor World in PA. I came down before the DW while she went to her class reunion. I had a dull time putting up with some heavy rain and hail for one day. On the day she came to join me she had the excitement of watching a black bear cross the highway in front of her. I guess, like the chicken, it to wanted to get to the other side. And no one tried to stop it from jaywalking.

You kept saying boring, and the whole time I'm imagining how much fun this would be. :) My wife and I just had a baby (he's 4 months old now) and thinking of taking her mom's travel trailer on a little trip. I love travelling so much and look forward to being able to just travel around and explore...Tim
ReplyDeleteThe season has changed and now may not be the best time to travelif you live in a cold climate. But plan for the nextseason and take thetrip while the baby is young and not in school. It will giveyou time to see if you'll like the life style.
