The Hershey RV Show - 2008

On the 11th of this month we went to the big RV show in Hershey PA. This year, at least when we went, it was not so big. Oh there were the usual plethora of RVs but what was missing were people and vendors. We went on senior day. Buy one get one free for those who are seniors. A perk for living so long. Like doctors bills.

The last time we were at the show was in 2005, not long after we purchased our unit. The place was packed and you could hardly navigate around the vendor floor of the concourse. This year there were was no problem getting to where you wanted to go. Stadium seating was not at a premium. It was a lesson in economics that our politicians just don't seem to understand.

Now I have to admit that I don't know if the lack of patrons is because it's a weekday and vendors are going to show on Friday through Sunday. We looked at the function brochure and noticed some names of vendors that were not there. That empty space you see on the right of the picture is the same on the opposite side of the floor as the above photo shows.

Outside, as mentioned, there were plenty of units to goggle and just as many sales persons. The seemed to be talking among themselves more that potential customers. We had plenty of time to purview any of the units we so desired without interference. One of the things I found missing was the paper work of the units. You had to ask for them.

I also noticed a 25% - 30% discount on some of the units we looked at. To me that was a reduction on an inflated price to begin with. If I were in the market to buy the discount price would be a good starting point and then down from that. At least 50% off would be good for this market. Yep, I'm out of my mind.
